Gutting Out The Van

Our van is a 1997 Ford Econoline-150 conversion van. When we purchased our van it had about 91,000 miles. The van started out with a full interior, 4 captain chairs and a bench that transitioned into a bed. The van had a rear stereo that Eric couldn’t figure out how to work so we planned on removing that. The front overhead area had a tv and a dvd player.

We started with removing the rear bench and back seats. After we finished removing the bench and back seats, we began to remove the carpet. We removed all of the carpet except the front portion.

Next, we took apart the side paneling under the windows. We kept the paneling above and around the windows. By taking apart the side paneling under the windows, it gave us more room for our build. After removing the side paneling under windows, we took out the tv and dvd player. The tv and dvd player was going to be useless for us so we decided to remove it. The tv and dvd player had so many unnecessary wires that took up space.

We then unscrewed our trim pieces which were originally a red/orange toned wood and decided to paint them white to brighten up our space. After removing the bench and back seats we needed to fill in some holes in our flooring. We used JB Weld to fill in the holes. To start the filling process we needed to sand down the spot to remove all of the old glue from the carpet. We then went over it with spray paint primer to cover any spots that we sanded down to bare metal.
